Kumtor Operating Company is seeking experienced qualified Dual Rotary Drillers for its gold operation located in the Kyrgyz Republic, Central Asia. Reporting to the Senior Dewatering Engineer, the position will be responsible for the day-to-day drilling of boreholes in unstable overburden and waste dump conditions. They will also be responsible for the successful installation of piezometers and dewatering wells.
Interested applicants should be experienced using the following equipment: the DR-24 (dual rotary), which was developed by Barber Industries and acquired by Foremost Industries. Further consideration will be given for drill experience utilizing the following methods:
- rotary drilling with casing hammer
- rotary drilling with under-reamer or rotary drilling with bentonite or other additives.
- Aardvark drill equipment experience
- A minimum of 4 years related drilling experience
- Prior experience in a FSU country, or other expatriate environment, would be advantageous.
- Ability to speak Russian will be an asset.
- Medically fit to work at altitude (4000+)
- The ability to work with and train national drillers is a key component of this position.
This is a 6 month short-term contract located at the Kumtor mine site. The work schedule will be a FIFO, four weeks on – four weeks off rotation. Rotational positions are based at the mine site. US Dollar salary with normal company benefits is offered.
