Centerra is a growth-oriented Canadian-based gold mining and exploration company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development and operation of gold properties in Central Asia, the former Soviet Union and other emerging markets. Currently, we maintain 100% interests in two gold producing mines, Kumtor mine in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Boroo mine in Mongolia.
Kumtor Operating Company is seeking experienced Technicians for its gold operation located in the Kyrgyz Republic, Central Asia. Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, these positions will be responsible for electrical and instrumentation systems at the mine site. The ability to work with, train, coach and develop national technicians is a key component of this position.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to complex controls, Foxboro DCS, and Allen Bradley PLC systems.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the site wide electrical power distribution system, 110KV and 6.3 KV substations, and diesel electric powerhouses.
- Responsible for electrical aspects, construction and maintenance related to mine, mill, crusher, pumping, and effluent treatment areas.
- Participate in the development of electrical maintenance strategies to deliver optimum availability with operating budgets.
- Maintenance planning for parts, equipment and materials to maintain a trouble free operation in the process plant and site wide.
Requirements:
- To be considered the candidate will possess a valid Electrical Trade Qualification, with a minimum of five years of experience preferably in gold plant or minerals processing.
- The candidate must have well developed analytical skills for troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation equipment and be able to read and understand electrical schematics, technical papers, and technical manuals.
- Possess a sound understanding of DCS, PLC systems, power generation and distribution.
- Experience on underground equipment, and associated infrastructure will be advantageous.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in a FSU country, or other expatriate environments.
- A good working knowledge of computers would be a definite asset.
This rotational position is a two-year term with the potential for extension by mutual agreement. The opportunity provides for a challenging work environment, competitive remuneration and benefit package. Rotational employees work a 28/28 day rotation and are based at the mine site.
