Kumtor Operating Company, a subsidiary of Centerra Gold Inc., is seeking an experienced Project Engineer at the Kumtor gold mining operation located in the Kyrgyz Republic in Central Asia.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the incumbent will be responsible for developing mechanical, civil and electrical project designs, scopes and estimates.
Responsibilities shall include:
- supervising direct staff & contractors
- providing commercial and technical support
- ensuring safe, efficient and cost effective project execution
- engage and negotiate with vendors on bids
- present project status and cost updates
The ideal candidate will have:
- An engineering degree.
- A minimum of 5-6 years project management experience preferably in mining and mineral processing.
- Construction and civil engineer experience coupled with working in perma-frost locations at high altitude will an added value.
- Prior experience in a FSU country, or other expatriate environment, would be advantageous.
- Good computer skills and working experience in related project software.
- Well developed inter-personal skills with an aptitude for leadership and training.
This is a resident position, located in Bishkek, the capital city of the Kyrgyz Republic though the incumbent will work and live at the mine site during the work week.
An attractive expatriate remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate.

Kumtor is located in the Kyrgyz Republic, about 350 kilometers southeast of the capital Bishkek and about 60 kilometers north of the border with the Peoples Republic of China.
