Kumtor Operating Company, a subsidiary of Centerra Gold Inc., is seeking an well experienced and qualified Planning Engineer at the Kumtor gold mining operation located in the Krygyz Republic.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for all aspects of safe mine engineering services to the mining operation, long term planning targets and objectives are established to ensure corporate goals are met. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for timely, innovative short term mine planning support to successfully implement and meet the long term LOM planning objectives.
Responsibilities shall include.
Ensuring best practice throughout the mining engineering discipline, including:
- Short term mine planning
- Prepare weekly and monthly production plans for implementation by the Mine Operations team.
- Preparation of management reports and production statistics.
- Evaluate all potential solutions to short term planning issues and develop plans to overcome these challenges
- Support pit engineering functions (drill and blast design, survey, ore control and dispatch system)
The ideal candidate will have:
- Preferably a Mining Engineering or related degree.
- A minimum of 5-8 years experience in mining engineering with a minimum of 3 years recent Open Pit experience.
- Familiarity with reserve estimation techniques, pit optimization programs and open pit mining techniques would be a distinct asset.
- Good computer skills together with a working knowledge of mining software programs.
- Well developed inter-personal skills with an aptitude for leadership and training.
- Prior experience in a FSU country, or other expatriate environment, would be advantageous.
- Medically able to work at altitude.
This is a resident position, located in Bishkek, the capital city of the Krygyz Republic in Central Asia though the incumbent will work and live at the mine site during the work week. The Kumtor gold mine, a 140,000 BCM per day open pit operation, is situated in the Tien Shan Mountains in the Kyrgyz Republic and has been in operation since May 1997.
An attractive expatriate remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate.
