Centerra Gold is a signatory to the Cyanide Code as both a gold miner and a cyanide consignor/transporter.
We have aligned our approach to cyanide management at all operations with the International Cyanide Management Code for the Manufacture, Transport and Use of Cyanide in the Production of Gold (the Cyanide Code), which is recognized as an international best practice. The Cyanide Code helps protect human health and reduce the potential for environmental impacts. Companies that become signatories to the Cyanide Code must have their operations audited by an independent third party to demonstrate compliance. We have fully integrated the Cyanide Code principles and standards of practice into our Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
The International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) announced on April 9, 2012 that Centerra Gold's Kumtor Cyanide Transportation Operation in the Kyrgyz Republic has been certified as fully compliant with the International Cyanide Management Code.
On July 1, 2013, the ICMI announced that Centerra Gold’s Boroo Mine Supply Chain in Mongolia has been certified in full compliance with the International Cyanide Management Code.
